Table tennis, it’s an activity that’s best known as something people do on a Saturday night when they want to have fun with their friends. However, for some people, table tennis is actually a sport they take very, very seriously. So seriously that they learn, and even master, special techniques to take make it easier to take down their competition. Now if you’re thinking that it’s time for you to take your table tennis game to the next level, here’s a guide on some of the top websites that teach different table tennis techniques.
Website: Expert Table Tennis (Find it at https://www.experttabletennis.com)
Expert Table Tennis is a blog written by Ben Larcombe who is a professional table tennis coach who lives in London, England. He’s 29-years-old and started the blog back in 2012 to share his thoughts on the sport and from there, it’s just grown. Not only does he offer pointers on how to improve your table play through posts and videos, but he also provides footwork drills, reviews on new equipment, tips on health and fitness, and general insight on how to be a good, respectful player.
Website: Ping Sunday (Find it at: https://pingsunday.com/)
Ping Sunday is also a blog and is written by EmRatThich who is a table tennis coach from France who teaches using Chinese methods and techniques. His overall coaching goal is to help those he teaches get better at the sports as fast as they possibly can and he uses that same approach with his blog. Each Sunday, you can find a new ping pong tip, as he calls it, on the site, which also offers a place to shop, an overview of the top players in the world and their go to techniques, and a comprehensive guide on how you can master Chinese techniques on your own.
Website: Megaspin (Find it at: https://www.megaspin.net/i)
Unlike Expert Table Tennis and Ping Sunday, Megaspin is not a blog. Instead, it’s a fully indexed website that is built like an encyclopedia where you can read up on all sorts of topics on the sport. Some of the topics include the basics of the sport, hand grips and footwork that you should use, strokes and ways to hit the ball, facts about the sport, and a rundown on tips and tricks to master. It also offers information on equipment to buy, how to assemble your gear, and a store to buy whatever you might need to play.
Website: Ping Pong Bros (Find it at: https://pingpongbros.com/)
PingPongBros is a popular table tennis blog started by two passionate professional table tennis players – Kevin James and John Matt. On the website, you can find tips and tricks to improve your game, equipment news and product reviews. Unlike other equipment review websites, both the founders personally try and test most of the products before recommending. In their latest, table tennis robot buyer’s guide, they reviewed OUKEI TW-2700-S9 among the top pick in the professional category.
Website: All About Table Tennis (Find it at: https://www.allabouttabletennis.com)
This website is created by table tennis player and coach named Martin who has been participating in the sport for over 40 years. What’s nice about this website is that it’s broken down into easy to follow sections, focusing on different things like rules and regulations, how to play using a variety of techniques and skill shots, an overview on who the best players are, and there are even special sections like asking Martin questions, demonstration videos to watch, and interviews with top tennis players. All About Table Tennis also has club with an email newsletter that you can sign up for to get updates on the sport.
In addition to these four main websites that offer information on how to play table tennis and the techniques you can use, there are also others that you can check out as well. They are:
- My Active SG: https://www.myactivesg.com/sports/table-tennis/
- Human Kinetics: http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/techniques-for-mastering-table-tennis-backspin-serve
- Pong Boss: https://www.pongboss.com/
- The BBC: https://www.bbc.com/bitesize/guides/z3qw7hv/revision/1
One thing to keep in mind when checking out the websites mentioned about different table tennis techniques is that it’s not enough to just watch the videos and see what’s out there. If you really want to improve your table tennis game, you also have to practice what you see as often as you can to really learn the in’s and out’s of the new technique. If you don’t, then in the long run you’re not going to be able to use it effectively when you’re playing.
So, now that you know about some of the top websites available where you can learn new table tennis techniques, it’s time for you to check them out, get to learning, and start practicing and playing. When you become one of those serious players who starts taking down the competition, you’ll be glad that you did.
