When people think about table tennis, they sometimes think that it’s an activity that was only popular back in the 1970’s. Like, kids only picked up a paddle when they needed something to occupy their time at the local recreation center. The thing is, table tennis is a sport that’s more popular than ever before and the reason why is because it’s a lot of fun to play. Don’t believe it, well, keep reading to learn about what makes table tennis so much fun.
For starters, table tennis is a game that anyone can play. Really, young kids, as little as two or three, can grab a paddle and hit the ball around with their parents. Or, people who are retirement age, and even older, can battle back and forth to see who has the best table tennis skills around. Every age level in between can play too, meaning that it’s more than just a sport, it’s a universal activity that can bring people together. That’s why, you see people play it a lot at parties and other gatherings, like at the recreation centers in the 1970’s, since it allows people of all ages to get in on the excitement.
Another reason why table tennis is a fun sport plays off of the first reason and that’s how you don’t have to be an expert at it to enjoy it. It’s one of those activities that people of all skill levels can take part in. For instance, if you just want to do it as a hobby every now and again with your family when you want to pull the kiddos away from the electronics, you can. You don’t have to worry about who is better than who since you don’t have to keep score. All of you can simply hit the ball around and have some laughs. However, if you do want to compete and find out who’s the best among the best with the people you’re playing with, you can always keep score and go for the win. Just remember though, it’s still a game that’s meant for fun so don’t go overboard and lose your friends by taking it too seriously!
A third and final reason why table tennis is fun relates to how it doesn’t cost a whole bunch of money to play. Now, this is pretty refreshing change from trying other sports nowadays when you can sometimes drop hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands and thousands of dollars, just to give it a try. Take golf as a prime example. Just to try it you have to spend quite a bit of money and yes, that’s even if you rent golf clubs and the equipment that you need. After that if you do decide to play, you can spend so much money that you might not even have enough left over to pay the fees to play on a course. Yes, it can get that expensive.
Okay, so what makes table tennis one of the most reasonable priced sports to play is how the equipment to play it doesn’t come with a high price tag. Like, table tennis paddles typically don’t cost more than $30 new and you can buy some that are even half the price used. Also, the price for balls are close to zero. So as you can see, to get started, you’ll spend maybe $40, tops if you have access to a table to use. Then, if you make the decision to keep playing table tennis and want to get your own table, you can get one for as low as $100 if you find the right sale price online. Again, the cost to play table tennis is pretty reasonable.
All in all, table tennis isn’t just an activity of the past that has fallen by the wayside. Nope, it’s still a sport, and happy for most, that is still super popular and a lot of fun to play. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time for you to get in on the action and have a good time! Once you’re hooked, you’ll be glad that you did.
